The short version
Nothing you type about a resident ever leaves your computer. Chart & Sign has no server that stores notes, drafts, settings or anything else you enter. The only thing the app sends over the internet is your license key, so it can confirm your purchase.
What stays on your computer
Everything you enter while writing a note: names of diagnoses, weights, the note text, all of it. The note in progress is held in your browser's session storage, which the browser deletes when you close the tab. If you turn on "Keep an unfinished note if the browser closes" in Settings, it is kept in your browser's local storage instead, on that computer only, until you clear the note.
Your setup (name and credentials for the signature line, clinical conventions, and every list you customize) is saved in your browser's local storage on that computer. It is not sent anywhere. To move it to another computer you copy a backup text yourself and paste it in on the other one.
What leaves your computer
Your license key. When you unlock the app, and about once a month after that, the app sends the key (and nothing else) to a small license-check service run by Balanced Nutrition With Kristen LLC. That service asks Gumroad, where you bought the app, whether the key belongs to a valid purchase, and replies yes or no. The license-check service does not store keys or keep logs of them.
Gumroad holds your purchase details (name, email, payment) under its own privacy policy.
Like any website, the host that delivers the app's files (Cloudflare) receives standard request information such as your IP address and browser type when those files download. That happens before you type anything and contains nothing you enter.
What the app does not do
No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no cookies, no crash reporting, and no third-party scripts or fonts. The page tells your browser, through a security policy, that it may only connect to its own address and the license-check service, so the browser itself blocks it from sending anything anywhere else.
Protected health information
Because resident information never leaves your computer, Balanced Nutrition With Kristen LLC never receives, stores or transmits protected health information through this app, and is not acting as a business associate of your facility. You remain responsible for using the app in line with your facility's policies, including on shared workstations.
